Allardyce Sacked.

Article

so, he has finally gone, all i can say is UNLUCKY!!!! if he leaves a team saying he wants time out of football, to go to a bigger team straight away. then he deserves it, good to see where he goes next though !!!
clevelandspur

It is very harsh on him. I think he was left with a number of underachivers and he didn't have enough time to sort it out. Some of his buys like Faye and Beye have done quite well so it is harsh on him to sack him so quickly.

The Worlds gone bonkers.

It's actually quite funny.

Newcastle always harp on about being a major club yet time and again they fail to live up to a false reputation. Nearly men, always have been, always will be. Boro or Sunderland ftw!!

p.s I'm in a big glass house here.
KF

can't help but feel thats harsh. They're mid table, not in danger of being relegated and he's only had a short while. Newcastle fans seem to expect too much all the time

An interesting article in the times this week suggested that the geordies would never be happy with a manager until shearer had given it a go because he was such a legend there and they would always wonder if shearer could do better. i think thats true and it seems like shearer will be the next manager so they will finally see if he can cut it
AlexH

Its quite harsh on him but I think with football becoming even more cutthroat  these days you have to get it right from day one and his signings have been simply dreadful, for example he spent around £6 Million on Enrique. I wonder what his next move will be.
cosmicrichie

I hope for their sakes they don't appoint Shearer
clevelandspur

^ Definitely a case of be careful what you wish for! Shearer compared to Sam in experience is laughable
Diane

^ I'm sure Shearer has ruled himself out!

Really though who would be a premiership manager these days, yeah the financial rewards are great but to be successful must be one of the most stressful jobs going! Big Sam hasn't even had a whole season to prove himself.
cosmicrichie

I really thought Big Sam would be a success at Newcastle. He built a great side at Bolton (admittedly a dead boring side), and that was with no money. Newcastle have loads, although I think the issue over their defence is still the underlying problem for managers, they just don't seem to put much focus on it. Rozenhal seems half-decent, but Enrique is a waste. Steven Taylor is a god though, future England centre-half.

SAF wouldn't have got where he is had he been subjected to this, it took him ages to build up a Mank U side.

That's three managers I've liked and thought they were unfairly dismissed - Sir Bob, Roeder and Sam.

Only a matter of time before a certain Spaniard kisses goodbye to the scousers
Norton

Newcastle keep thinking there a top-4 material. There expectations are TOO high! They need to give managers 2-3 seasons in charge and let them sort the team out. Now a new manager will come in, get his own players, the team will play shite till they gel but before they even gel the owner would get the axe out.

And Richie, Mr Spaniard isn't going anywhere. We'll tie him up near the This Is Anfield sign and won't let him leave.
Lou Cipher

Oh dear Newcastle are managerless yet again. How sad. laugh

I really hope Shearer gives it a go because when the anointed Geordie messiah falls flat on his face and leaves Newcastle in a bigger mess than they are in now it will be officially the funniest thing ever.
funkymonkey

^Wouldn't it be utterly fabulous if Shearer took them down!!! rofl I'm getting a warm fuzzy feeling about it already. Shame he has ruled himself out!  sad

I agree totally with Norton's comments the Newcastle fans are convinced they are at the level of Real, Milan, Manure and Arsenal and that's the route of their problem. Massive over estimation of their standing in the world. It will lead to them sacking manager after manager when they don't win anything in one season. It's stupidity and arrogance that will keep them routed in mid table mediocrity (at best).
Christ even Sunderland and Boro their two closest rivals have won more than them over the last 30 years and they are both shit! How do they think they can compete with the elite when they cant compete with those two! Mad mad stupid people!
sandz

How ridiculous, when are Newcastle going to realise they will stay in this situation unless the manger is given 2 years at least, they are not a good team. None of their players would get in the Manutd squad whereas the teams who will finish in Europe or become close have players who would be considered in the team e.g. Young,Agbonlahor,Carson,Cahill,Arteta,Berbatov,Keane,King,Bently,Friedal and that is just a few. Now they want Mourino, yeah right! Newcastle a top 4 team? No chance, imo they aren't even a top 10 team and that won't change until consistancy comes and imo they got rid of the best man to do that. I hope Sherer takes charge and gets relegated just for the fact reality needs to hit them.
clevelandspur

One thing which was always going against Sam is his style of play. His sides at Bolton never played the prettiest football but got results. If you don't play good football and don't get good results there is not much to hang your hat on. Some of the Newcastle games I watched this year were like watching paint dry.
Norton

I'd love to see Newcastle relegated. I've hated them ever since Owen joined them. I just want to see how he's gonna start acting like Berba or someone and try make the top-4 clubs come and buy him.

Shearer next manager and relegation. <3
AlexH

It looks like a snap call as the two main candidates have ruled themselves out. I wonder what happened behind the scenes as Mort and Ashley both said they supported him.

I hate though how they call Newcastle a club in crisis-the sides below them apart from Reading are in a far greater crisis facing relegation and other issues.
KF

Just found this on BBC:

Quote:
Newcastle have confirmed that Kevin Keegan will make a dramatic return to manage the club.
The 56-year-old former Manchester City boss managed the Magpies from 1992 to 1997 and will return to St James' Park as Sam Allardyce's successor.

Gerard Houllier and Didier Deschamps were strongly linked with the position in the last two days but the club unexpectedly turned to Keegan.

He was initially linked only with a partnership role with Alan Shearer.

The ex-England coach was running his "Soccer Circus" in Glasgow after quitting his job at City in March 2005.

Seems odd to me, but newcastle fans always seem to want good football so now they'll see some, even if they do lose a lot of games
funkymonkey

^I love this!

Keegan could take them down! He is out of touch with modern football as he proved with Man C and England.

Bring it on! Superb appointment!  thumbsup
clevelandspur

I was suprised by this with Man City Keegan did not fare too well. Relegation?  laugh
Maverick

Keegans appointment will blow the premiership prediction out of the water, I mean we'll see scores like 4-3, 6-5, 7-6 !

Judging by Funky's reaction he's over the moon about his appointment but for very different reasons!!
