Thousands of Dr Who fans called his fictitious phone number seeking answers about the show's future ahead of Saturday's final episode, it has emerged.
The number - 07700 900461 - flashed up on screen during the penultimate episode as the Doctor's sidekicks Sarah Jane Smith, Martha Jones and the Torchwood team tried to contact him.
Fans tormented by the cliffhanger ending and the resurgence of a rumour that David Tennant might be leaving the show after Saturday's final decided to take matters into their own hands.
Up to 2,500 attempted to ring the fictitious number, which is reserved for television shows.
At least I know why Rose Tyler wont return my calls (in a different dimention)
