Changes in murder laws proposed | Quote: | Proposed reforms of the law on homicide in England and Wales could change the circumstances under which a murder charge is reduced to manslaughter.
Defendants who successfully claim they were "seriously wronged" by the victim could now be convicted of manslaughter. |

It could open a can of worms couldn't it.
But I can certainly see how a woman who has been mentally tortured for years by her husband and then one day just lashes out and sticks a bread knife in him shouldn't be done for murder as it stands. There needs to be a middle ground that she can be accused of.

I couldn't agree more.
Where is the line now going to be drawn between charges of murder and manslaughter?
People will just claim that they were victims of abuse to get the lesser charge. Who will oppose them?
