Famous Villa fansJust reading this news story that Tom Hanks is a Villa fan and was quite surprised he had even heard of them.
So who in the showbiz world is a fan of your club? Anyone impressive?
| Quote: | Tom Hanks has announced that he is a supporter of Aston Villa Football Club.
The American actor was speaking on the red carpet for his new film Charlie Wilson's War when he revealed that he was a fan of the Midlands-based team by donning a club scarf.
Hanks said: "I'm big on Aston Villa. The name is just so sweet. It sounds like a lovely spa!"
Talking about the team's recent form, he added: "There are a lot of people out there who think Aston Villa are going to take the premiership. And I hope they do."
Other celebrity Aston Villa fans include Prince William and Ozzy Osbourne. |

Jimmy pointed out to me his interview on AVTV freeview on the website. It seems more Americans are taking an interest in the Premiership everyday. This local pub I go to actually has coordinated supporters groups for all the clubs and you get half off beers and fish and chips if you wear your shirt. never used to see stuff like that
Famous Spurs supporters
Bryan Adams (singer) lol
Gareth barry
Steve Nash (one of my fav NBA players as well)
Guitarist from Coldplay Johnny something boo
Baby Spice
Dave Clark
Phil Collins
Jude Law
Shania Twain
I am probably forgetting some but these are ones I remember

Same with Sylvestor Stallone watching a Everton match its a growing and popular trend.
Im guessing it was really started up by David and Victoria Beckham moving to the US as they were in with the Cruises its helped break the ice.

^ Don't give the Cruises any credit for that. even though I think you may be right!
I think the sport just keeps growing and growing with popularity and more Americans keep going to the Premiership as well. Say all the fans of New England's MLS team surely are going to follow what Dempsey does at Fulham for example.

True and you cannot rule out the Glaziers purchase of Man U as a wavelength of sending the message across to the US that Football is a massive sport. Maybe the most well known and commercial sport in the world.
It can only be a good thing with celebs getting involved in supporting a club because take for example clubs in administration how many have lead consordiums to help buy out the club.

Tom Hanks reason for supporting them is rubbish. He should be shot for what he said. He must be a friend of Randy Lerner.
On the Soccer USA show on C5 they did a poll outside the MLS grounds seeing who the Americans supported in the PL. Despite Chelsea and Man Utd trying to crack America, the sides like Villa and Fulham came out on top due to the US connections.

^ I would believe that I know in Columbus they have a huge supporters group for Fulham because McBride is a legend at both clubs.
One thing which does surprise me is that there isn't many Villa fans around here as I expected but I bet it will come with time of course with the Lerner connection. The places I go the majority are Man U, Chelsea (prob the biggest) and Liverpool. Luckily not many Arse which is refreshing.

I think that people in Cleveland will start cheering them on so long as the Browns are doing ok.
When Lerner first took over most Browns fans, including yourself I think Bryan were pissed at him thinking it would take his eye off the ball back home 'where it mattered'
Good on Tom Hanks I say, he can sit in the directors box next to Prince William tomorrow
By pledging his allegiance to Aston Villa Tom joins two other high-profile supporters of the club. Prince William once stated famously that in his opinion they're "the best team in the world", while rocker Ozzy Osbourne is also a fan.

I know Terry Kiely and Ricky Whittle i think Jamie Lomas does to support Manutd. On the dream team subject i was watching the indian version of goal and the "rivals" team captin and meano was dream teams very own Robbie Walsh, he has grown his hair back to normal from his appearance in Eastenders. I beleive Kevin Doyle supports us to.
clevelandspur i wonder if you made a bid for Barry what would happen if you get into Europe and Villa don't,would be interesting. Kitson supports you lot to.

That is a good point. I was very bitter last year while we were suffering though a horror season and Lerner was in the Villa box every weekend but I think finally things are heading in the right direction for both clubs.
Oh and sandz I doubt Barry would come to Spurs he is pretty much Villa through and through now but God knows we could use him.
