Heath Ledger found dead.Oh my God, this is awful. Its such a shock. My sister and boyfriend sent me texts to tell me. I was so looking forward to seeing him as The Joker. God, how terrible.
| Quote: | Heath Ledger was found dead at his Manhattan residence, a police spokesman confirms to the Associated Press. He was 28.
Police say the death may be drug-related. The NYPD spokesman tells AP that Ledger had a massage appointment at his Soho apartment. When the housekeeper went to alert Ledger the masseuse was there, she found him at around 3:26 p.m.
He did not respond when they shook him, and the two called police, The New York Times reports. He was pronounced dead at 3:45 p.m.
Authorities later said they did not suspect foul play but that pills were found near the body.

Sh!t - didn't expect that. He's younger than me (only just)
It's always a shame to see someone go, especially a good actor

It's a shocker!
I think he was talented and had potential. He appeared to be picking his films and wasn't flooding himself on the market like a lot of young actors do.
I guess his Joker in the next Batman will be his epitaph. I think he completed it didn't he?

All the signs are pointing to suicide. Looks like the demons that pushed him to his first attempt returned. Tragic end to a gifted actors life.

^ Did he try to commit suicide before? I never heard about that. I'd actually be very surprised if this was a suicide. From what I can gather, he was suffering from pneumonia and was self-medicating. Never a good idea.
Yeah, he had finished filming Batman. He's meant to be amazing in it.

He never made a previous attempt, I got confused with him and Owen Wilson.

I heard about this from my friends at work this morning! I was totally gobsmacked and still can hardly get my head round it. I've looked on the net at reports since then and a lot of them are talking about suicide. What a total shame, it's awful.

The suicide stories are total speculation. Nobody knows what the cause of death was yet.
I think the media coverage of this has been fucking disgusting. Did they really have to show him being wheeled out in a body bag. He has a two year old daughter. She doesn't need to see those images when she grows up.

Penny i'm a firm believer that the media on a whole are fucking scum especially these gossip ones like the Sun and Mirror, but is the US there are far more tabloids that go about doing this crap.
They dont give a shit whose lives they ruin as long as they get their story!

Totally. Media coverage has to change. They have to start taking responsibility for their actions here. I don't know how they sleep at night! His family had to find out on the news! (according to his uncle). The story should never have been released until after his family was informed. Its awful.

very shocked when i heard this. Was looking forward to seeing him in batman as he was a talented actor. Feel sorry for his family and hope it wasn't suicide but i've read a lot of things today that say he was very depressed, hard to imagine doing that and leaving a daughter behind though

^I agree about the media coverage and I am actually appalled at all those strangers standing outside waiting to see a body in a bag being removed form the hotel, some dignity eh?
They are saying it could be an accidental overdose, I just feel so sorry his little girl will never see her Father again

Horrible news. Also I am disgusted with how the media handled this. Everyone is making alot of assumptions and I just think it would be better to wait until all the facts are out to condemn him. Especially considering the grief his family and friends are going through. I just imagine someone close to me dying and everyone speculating awful things about it, that would make me furious.

It must be awful to see a family member or loved one with those images the media were showing. Also at the moment the media are speculating how he died. I think that they should wait for the autopsy results before reprting about it.

Brilliant actor and at such a young age it is tragic. He had a huge career ahead of him and it is such a shocking death.

The initial autopsy has proved inconclusive. If cause of death was natural causes, would the autopsy have revealed this? If not natural causes then a drug-related death is looking more likely.
| Quote: | Wednesday's autopsy to determine how Heath Ledger died has been called inconclusive. Additional tests and more time are required.
"The autopsy was inconclusive," New York City Medical Examiner spokeswoman Ellen Borakove tells PEOPLE. "We have to do further testing including toxicology and tissue testing. Neither cause of death or manner of death has been concluded. We expect additional results in 10 days to two weeks."
The 28-year-old star's body was found in the bedroom of his downtown New York City apartment, with prescription sleeping medication nearby.
Michael Baden, a prominent forensic pathologist not involved with the investigation, said before the initial autopsy that the tests Wednesday would determine whether the death was from natural causes.
"It's important to determine if this is a natural death or if it was a drug overdose," said Baden, suggesting that there are "natural things that cause death in young people in their 20s, like the rupture of an aneurysm around the brain or heart disease or pneumonia."
Ledger had pneumonia at the time of his death, PEOPLE has confirmed.
Adds Baden: "If there's no natural cause of death ... then it becomes more likely that it's a drug overdose. That will depend on toxicology and that may take a few days to a few weeks." |

I was totally shocked when I heard about this on the news this morning. He was such a talented actor, and was way too young to die. I feel so sorry for his family, and think that the press should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves to film his body being taken away. They should show more respect for the dead and ask themselves how they would feel if it was one of their family members.

I was quite shocked when I saw those images of the body bag on the news tonight. It's the first tv coverage of it that I've watched and seeing them wheeling the body out was pretty horrible, knowing he was in there.

The worst part of that for me is that being so young, when she grows up she's unlikely to have any actual proper memories of him. She'll only know what she gets told, what she see's in photos or what she see's on film and I think that's really sad. (which kind of ties in with what Penny said.)
