Kung Fu in Villa game.Just been watching MOTD and I could not believe the challenge that Gardner did on Dwight Yorke. Basically if you haven't seen it, Yorke was clearing a coner via his head and Gardner came charging in trying to win the ball with his foot up and caught Yorke stright in the stomach a la Bruce Lee style. his punishment? A yellow card.

Great challenge!!
As Gary Lineker said afterwards Mav, he got the ball!! Just not the football hey.
It was just a "HI Dwight, nice to see you, you fucking Judas bastard". "Next time you leave Villa, do so with good grace or I will go back to Brucie for some more training and really hurt you"..."And by the way...just because your United carreer went tits up at the end, don't go joining our closest rivals for a quick buck".
The good thing is that the ref carded him so he can't be punished further. Woohoo!!
Not that I'm defending him or anything..honest.

lol!! It was a pretty bad challenge though Jimmy. Lucky for him he was carded because he probably would have had to explain himself over that challenge in front of the FA.

That was a shocking challenge. I forgot Yorke still played for Sunderland to be honest before that lol Personally I hate when guys get straight reds for challenges even if they are dangerous. it usually ruins the match from a neutral view but that may have been worthy of it.

Lol it was a shocker of a challenge, it looked like he snapped him in half the first time I saw it! No excuses for a challenge like that and he should have went.
Basically the referee had an absolute nightmare of a game he got every big call wrong in the whole game and that went for both teams, he was consistently atrocious for Sunderland and Villa.
Steve Bennett was the guy who sent Keane off in the Shearer incident if my memory serves me right and there is bad blood there after Keane got stuck into him in his autobiography. Not that I'd suggest a PL referee would be that unprofessional... what the hell yes I am suggesting that lol.
