Pampered pooch loses £5m inheritance.
I remember we had this story here before. I'm a bit surprised that 'Trouble' has lost his inheritance - from what I've read of Helmsley, I reckon she meant to leave her family out of that will!
I reckon he'll get by on $2 million, though.
| Quote: | The beloved dog of a late American billionaire was feeling a little unloved today after it saw $10 million (£5 million) wiped off its inheritance.
But "Trouble" will probably be able to scrape by on its remaining inheritance of $2 million.
A Manhattan judge accepted Leona Helmsley - known as the "Queen of Mean " - was mentally unfit when she made her will.
The settlement also awarded Helmsley's two grandchildren, Craig Panzirer and Meegan Panzirer Wesolko, $6 million. They had been cut out of her will.
Helmsley amassed a fortune through property and hotels but was not known for her generosity to employees.
But she did have a soft spot for Trouble, a nine-year-old Maltese, which will eventually be buried next to her in the family mausoleum.
In the meantime it will live a life of luxury despite its reduced inhertance.
Trouble's caretaker Carl Lekicand said $2 million would be "enough money to pay for the dog's maintenance and welfare at the highest standards of care for more than 10 years".
Lekic said the money would cover annual costs of $100,000 for full-time security, $8,000 for grooming and $1,200 for food. Lekic is paid a $60,000 annual guardian fee out of the inheritance.
Helmsley died in August last year at age 87.
She was once famously quoted as saying as saying said "only the little people pay taxes" but spent 18 months in prison for evading $1.7 million in taxes in 1989. |

What an f'n loon! 2 mill for a dog is still ridiculous. What is he eating filet mignon and lobster every day? Also I will be happy to take the job as dog caretaker for 60K a year lol

^ I know, what a great job.
From what I've read of her, I'm pretty sure she meant to leave her family out of that will, so I doubt she'd be too impressed that it's been over-ruled. Er, not that she knows much about it, being dead and all...

They'd better hope if there is an afterlife that the Queen of Mean has gone to a different address otherwise they will have all eternity to regret overruling her wishes.
