Red Card DecisionsWell obviously refs have been instructed to crack down on sloppy challenges but often times these rash decision are ruining the games! I wanted Everton to win yesterday mind you but the sending off of John Obi Mikel was appaling! It was not two footed and he barely even got a piece of Neville at all. When these players are getting sent off it makes the affairs one sided usually and one team just trying to hold for a draw. How does this make it better? Besides tackling is part of the sport and they are just taking that aspect away.
So do you think the refs are right in trying to come down hard and ease challenges? Or do you think they are going overboard?

Its a bit of both i must admit they are getting to the stage where any contact is penalised but sometimes they are compromised by the sight they have of the challenge.
I personally think consulting with the 4th official over the earpiece is hindering their natual instinct and that maybe people have cracked down on them more than they would have liked.
Think of it this way how do we know they havent been told by the football association to crack down on it like a ton of bricks. I know the old cliche 'The referee's a wan*er' but i firmly believe this is more of a dodgy issue above their heads.

^ I agree clearly this decisions has come from the Fa. It is not one referee making these decisions it is all of them and at every league level.

It's typically british though isn't it? Take a guideline from Fifa or Uefa and implement it to the L E T T E R.
Why don't they clamp down on the following instead?
1. Diving
2. Pulling Shirts
3. Trying to get players sent off by waving an imaginary card in the air
etc etc
Still by far the best league in the World though. Without rival.

^ Well said jimmy and #3 on the list is what annoys me the most. I hate when players appeal for another to get booked. It is classless.
Same in American football when recievers don't get touched by defensive players and ask for a pass interference flag..GET ON WITH IT!

I was interested to see the refs during the recent FA cup thrid round, they get more and more in favour of the premier league teams every year.
I don't know why neither because the teams they protect are the teams that devalue the cup by fielding weak teams.
