The big freeze is on its wayThe Met office are warning of a big freeze mid January, it has been reasonably mild especially on Christmas Day. I wanted it to snow at Christmas time not after
| Quote: | BRITAIN is set for the coldest January in 21 years with temperatures plummeting to -17°C, Met men warned last night.
And they are predicting chaos on the roads on Thursday with ice and snow, as temperatures struggle to reach 2 or 3°C.
Piers Corbyn of WeatherAction said: “The winds from Siberia are going to make it extremely cold — like we experienced in January 1987 where it was -12°C in the south.”
He warned temperatures could fall to -17°C in the Midlands. And he added: “The average temperature for January will be close to freezing, 0.8°C at best.”
The Highways Agency has hundreds of gritting vehicles standing by for snow.
But the Met Office said milder conditions will return at the weekend. |

It looks like I'll be getting my thermals out soon. I can live with the cold, but I hate snow and really hope we don't get any.

Crap, urgh I hate the cold. Especially January/February/March when we play all of our Junior Cup matches! I can bear the rain, the scorching temperatures, snow and just about anything except for the cold and wind.

Lets just hope it is the Sun spreading false rumours again . Thats awful news. It sounds like the weather will be unpleasent for a while and it seems like it'll be a depressing end to Winter.

Why are you all moaning ???
Cold is brilliant, as it brings snow, snow means day/s of school/work, snow means enjoyment and hyper little kids running around everywhere, and throwing snow at houses and getting chased, better than having warmer temperatures and bloody RAIN!!!!

If we get snow we need to have a lot of it before the school will be closed.
Otherwise it just means i get to freeze my arse off dragging a big double buggy to school and back and since aidan will be a nursey in the afternoon (which i was excited about before reading this!) I have to do the whole thing twice!

I dont mind the cold and snow, provided I dont have to be out in it all the time, it will be nice now im off school, but I hope it clears for when I go back, as I hate standing outside in the cold.

Days off work because of the snow???!!! Where do you work???!!!
It's snowing quite good here - it's funny watching the Indian guys in the snow (we offshore work) as they don't get it in India. It's like watching little children playing!

You don't want snow trust me! I have spent 15 minutes the past two mornings scraping snow and ice off of my car and then most don't know how to drive with some snow on the ground. It is awful.

^Yeah I think our snow is nothing to moan about when you consider Mr. Spurs winter nightmares. We get inches, he gets feet!

We got snow! Albeit a thin layer that melted when it started to rain but still snow! For the first time in four years for me!
I'll have some pictures up later. I'm still giddy from it to be honest.

We got snow in South London, albeit it was so thin that it didnt settle at all. Im just hoping it snows next week so that school might be quite fun.

Ha, it was short lived anyway. No sooner did I take the pictures than it started to rain and all the snow melted away. I'm between two minds whether I want it to snow again tomorrow morning. On the one hand I love snow, on the other I have a match at half nine and I don't want to be freezing my arse off either.
