The OlympicsDespite being probably the most famous grand sporting event in the world (Maybe apart from the World Cup) does anybody follow or even care about what happens at the Olympics?
This time around its caused a lot of controversy as you all know due to China's human rights records and Tibet etc. so, is it all worth it for the games to go ahead?

I'm looking forward to the Olymics - it's always good to have on in the background.
I'm going to make an effort this year to get into it more and have a sense of National pride. I hope that we manage to get a few medals.
I'll probably watch the Athletics, Swimming and cycling events and will be 'forced' to watch the gymnastics as the wife will be watching it.
Hopefully the whole Tibet thing won't ruin the games

I normally only pay attention to Track & Field and of course the big winners in other areas.
One thing's for sure Team GB need a better medal haul than last Olympics which was utterly embarrassing.
I think cycling we have a very strong chance at 3 Golds but I'm not sure we have any other World beaters at the moment, maybe the ladies sprinters are reasonable this year but I'm struggling to think of anything else.

I love the Olympics. Gymnastics, Swimming, Track & Field are my favorites to watch. Also looking forward to see our basketball team try to erase the embarassment in Greece. I trust LeBron won't let us lose. All tips off tonight!

Well, I'll watch as much as I can, sure I'm not rooting for GB . Just I don't know why it doesn't seem to be a great Olympic. Maybe that's because of its logo

I don't know but for me it seems a kid has done it than a graphic designer

^ Yes I remember we had a thread about how bad the logo was, or maybe that was for London can't remember

The London 2012 logo is bloody awful, the current one isn't too bad.
I shall watch as much of the Olympics as I can as I love watching sport especially if we have GB representing. Not too sure about it being held in China though!

The smoggy atmosphere and the affect on the players heath is unbelievable i cant believe its been staged in this city i just pray the long events like the marathon arnt too damaging for the competitiors health.
Of course i will be watching and hoping the likes of Ben Ainslie come up trumps again.

I just watched the Gold and Bronze for the GB girls in the 400m freestyle. Wow!
Where did Adlington come from???
She wasn't even in the top 3 with 40 metres to go!
A superhuman swim!

Michael Phelps is all the rage here. He has a real good shot at getting 8 golds this olympics. That is pretty incredible. He is in another class.
Basketball team looks very good.
Also did anyone catch womens gymnastics? No way that those girls from China were 16!?! They looked about 12

Lol they looked about 10 i must admit haha!!
I cant believe Phelps has half your golds whats happened at Atlanta US were winning all the golds going now it looks as though China's youth programme is working wonders.

^Yes because they pretty much keep them in concentration camps from the age of 3 lol
Those dirty Chinese!

True they are much much stricter and harsher.
I remember watching a documentary on the Chinese table tennis training and i the kids were bad they'd cain them like we used to get here.
It certainly must have bloody worked but no way woul;d i want that torture!!

^ Yes it sounds awful doesn't it. They were saying on the telecast the girls are hand picked at ages of 3-5. They are totally seperated from their families and just live in the gym facilities. i don't really get the point of it really? I am proud of our girls still. I felt gutted for Alicia Sacramone, she will have to live watching those errors the rest of her life....and we still managed silver

Jesus what bollocks I talk!
Team GB currently third in the medal table from a country that is a fraction of the size of many below it and above it.
I really can't believe just how far we have over achieved, it is now the most successful Olympics in our history equaling 1920's haul.

I cant believe Wiggins and Cavendish really disappointed in the cycling race today. They were hot favourites and came 8th!!!
